RBT® Exam Structure

Preparing for the Registered Behavior Technician® (RBT®) exam starts with understanding how the test is built. When you know what to expect on exam day, it’s easier to focus your studying and practice more effectively.

How the Exam Works

  • Format: Computer-based exam delivered at Pearson VUE testing centers.

  • Question Style: All multiple-choice.

  • Number of Questions: 85 total.

    • 75 scored questions that count toward your result.

    • 10 unscored pilot questions included for research (you won’t know which ones they are).

  • Time Limit: 90 minutes to complete all questions.

  • Scoring: Passing scores are set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB®) using a scaled system.
